Vetbeam’s founder, Ashleigh Fairfield, began her veterinary career nearly 20 years ago. She has worked in myriad disciplines of veterinary medicine, including primary care, emergency, surgery, and rehabilitation. The exposure to these varied practice types has allowed her to develop a diverse skill set.

As a veteran of the veterinary field, Ashleigh has assisted in the mentorship of innumerable veterinary technicians, assistants, and veterinarians. Ashleigh has lectured nationally as well as written articles for DVM360 and Firstline. Ashleigh holds her license to practice as a veterinary technician in Virginia. She also holds certifications as a Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in Physical Rehabilitation and a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP).

Stephanie began her veterinary career in highschool, working in her neighborhood veterinary clinic. She graduated cum laude from Blue Ridge Community College, obtaining her veterinary technician license in 2007. Following graduation, Stephanie continued working in general and emergency practice until discovering a love for neurology and anesthesia. Since 2012, she has worked primarily in neurology and surgery, managing difficult anesthetic and neurosurgical cases on a daily basis.

Stephanie prides herself on her technical abilities, managing advanced anesthesia cases, and her compassionate approach to patient and client care. Her passion for veterinary medicine stems from her love for animals as well as an innate curiosity and thirst for knowledge. Stephanie loves the constantly evolving nature of medicine and looks forward to new opportunities to teach and learn from the veterinary community.

Katie began her career as a primary care veterinary assistant before pursuing her degree in veterinary technology. After graduation she spent time in a large veterinary referral specialty hospital. There she cultivated a passion for critical case management and anesthesia.

In 2016, Katie achieved her veterinary technician specialist (VTS) certification in anesthesia and analgesia. She now leads the anesthesia department at VCA SouthPaws, and extends her knowledge and skills to Vetbeam part-time.

Jess holds an Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology  from Harcum College, which she obtained in 2017. She currently works full time with Veterinary Emergency Group’s (VEG) overnight team, and provides her expertise to Vetbeam part time. Jess thrives in the fast-paced emergency environment and finds deep fulfillment in providing life-saving assistance to patients in critical times.

Prior to her time with VEG Jess has worked in a variety of disciplines including general practice, oncology, and urgent care. Jess is skilled in dental imaging, anesthesia, and the development of educational resources for newcomers and learners in the field. She is committed to staying abreast of the latest advancements in veterinary medicine, ensuring that her skills remain cutting-edge and effective. She finds fulfillment in aiding the beloved four-legged companions during their most frightening moments, striving to ensure they can return safely to their families.

Outside of her professional life, she enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her three-year-old son, her eleven-year-old lab mix, and her supportive husband.

Jessey Scheip is a Licensed Veterinary Technician based in Northern Virginia. In addition to her state license, she holds a Veterinary Technician Specialty in Behavior and a training certification through the Karen Pryor Academy. Her passion is education – teaching others how to understand their pets, work with them on an individual basis, and how to use behavior principles to ensure they can live their best life. Much of her time is dedicated to helping families, but she also enjoys teaching other animal care professionals how to use behavior to better their own craft.

In addition to her work, she also maintains a hectic home life. She has two little boys (4 and 8) plus her own “special needs” critters. She loves arts and crafts, including needle point, painting, and decorating.
